On Thursday, June 4, 2026, the Black American Comptroller Employee Association (BACE) marked a milestone for the year by hosting its annual 2026 BACE Scholarship Luncheon.
This illustrious event drew Capitol Area employees, their families, friends, and the loved ones of the BACE scholarship recipients. The luncheon featured key Comptroller staff, including Adai Williams as the master of ceremonies and Tracy Bailey, who delivered featured vocal selections. The program also highlighted special award presentations by Tracy Ellis-Harrison, a descendant of the BACE founder, and Unyime Udosen, a long-time BACE advocate.
The keynote speaker for this grand occasion was Reverend Brandon L. Wooley, a leader at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Austin, Texas. Reverend Wooley is both a former BACE scholarship recipient and the son of Sheniqua Wooley, the 2026 BACE Financial Secretary. This special annual gathering also included a moving memorial vocal selection by Reverend Nathaniel Pleasant of Friendship Baptist Church in Luling, Texas.
Guests enjoyed a delectably catered meal of delicious smoked chicken paired with gourmet vegetable sides, followed by an exquisite assortment of desserts ranging from cheesecake petites to Dutch apple pie. The elegant afternoon concluded with remarks by Texas Deputy Comptroller Lisa Craven, leaving all attendees to depart in high spirits, united by a shared dedication to stewardship and scholarship.

2026 BACE Vice President Byron Evans II and Vocalist Tracy Bailey are no strangers. Fun Fact: The two are neighbors in Jarrell, Texas.
