It was the season for sharing and caring. The Black American Comptroller Employee Association elves were in the giving spirit.
On Friday, December 19th several members of BACE participated in the Ronald McDonald House Meals of Love program. BACE prepared dinner for the Ronald McDonald House of Charities of Central Texas located at 1315 Barbara Jordan Blvd, Austin 78723. The BACE members produced a menu and prepared 30 meals for families of sick children at Dell Children Hospital. The families are housed in the Ronald McDonald House to be near Dell Children Hospital located directly across the street. Ronald McDonald House provided the commercial kitchen and BACE provide the menu, food, and cooking. BACE selected a dinner opportunity that was available from 4 – 6pm. BACE chefs had two hours to execute the meal. BACE volunteers choose the menu, purchased the ingredients, prepared the meal, and served the families in individual packaging. The meal consisted of baked chicken, old fashioned meat loaf, buttered corn, a green beans w/ chopped potatoes, a gourmet pasta salad, and croissant rolls. BACE also prepared a holiday punch mixture, and choices for desert were a cookie assortment and homemade chocolate cupcakes w/ chocolate frosting and red velvet cupcakes w/ cream cheese frosting.
From the holiday songs being played and sung in the kitchen to the delightful smell of a hot homecooked meal the BACE chefs in the kitchen had a glorious, good time. The BACE board of representatives even went a step further and had signature aprons made for the event. Both the RMH staff as well as the recipients of the meals were extremely excited to have us and expressed how much they thoroughly enjoyed the smells and taste of our home cooked meal of love. From the Black American Comptroller Employee Association (BACE), it was a wonderful holiday season giving back to the Ronald McDonald House.
