Reflecting on a mid-year of community service and scholarship fundraising, the 2026 board members of the Black American Comptroller Employee Association (BACE) recently looked back on their journey since being installed by Deputy Comptroller Lisa Craven in January. Despite facing a challenging landscape driven by recent legislative changes, the board successfully hosted a variety of events throughout the year. Among the most memorable highlights was the Silent Auction and Luncheon held in March 2026.
The event transformed the Breezeway of the Lyndon B. Johnson building into a bustling marketplace, inviting Capitol Area Comptroller employees to browse and bid on an impressive array of donated items. Bidders had the chance to win everything from festive Easter baskets and fine jewelry to sports jerseys, custom artwork, and relaxing spa packages.
To complement the spring festivities, attendees also enjoyed a hearty lunch during the auction hour. For a seasonal treat, employees could purchase fish plates featuring catfish nuggets, fresh salad, side vegetables, and a drink.
